Step inside, and you’ll appreciate the thoughtful, stylish refurbishment completed during the COVID lockdown—an inspiring transformation that has elevated the space while preserving its cozy, welcoming spirit. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the resin inlaid lighting on the tables to the quirky, well-curated décor found even in the restrooms. Seasonal touches, particularly at Christmas, turn the bar into a magical hideaway illuminated by festive lights reflected over the water, creating an exceptionally atmospheric experience that lingers long after your visit.
The drink selection offers something for everyone, ranging from classic English ales and Guinness to a specially curated array of gins and refreshing cocktails like the quintessential Gin and Tonic. Non-alcoholic options are thoughtfully catered for too, with refreshing J20s and 0% ciders available at prices that feel fair and inviting. A customer fondly recalls how the barman went beyond the call of duty by charging their phone and offering warm hospitality to a stranger — a testament to the friendly spirit embedded here.
Food at Mariners Bar complements the drink menu beautifully, boasting traditional pub classics alongside international touches that surprise and delight. The generous Beef Pie with mash and peas smothered in rich gravy conjures comfort in every bite, while the crisp Cod Goujon Roll invites you to indulge in a crispy, flaky symphony of textures. For lighter yet flavorful fare, the Moules and Frites or the spicy Ensalada de Calamares con Chile showcase the kitchen’s flair for fresh, vibrant ingredients. Pizza enthusiasts will find plenty to love among choices like Double Pepperoni, Goats Cheese with Red Onion, and a Hot and Spicy option, with thoughtful half-and-half offerings perfect for sharing.
Families are warmly welcomed here, with a dedicated children’s menu featuring comforting favourites such as Sausage & Chips and Breaded Chicken Goujons. The whole dining experience is enhanced by the bar’s relaxed and friendly vibe — whether it’s a quiet afternoon with a game of pool surrounded by distinctive décor or a lively evening enjoying live music signposted on the entrance, Mariners Bar fosters an environment that feels like a community hub.
Beyond its impressive food and drink offerings, Mariners Bar is celebrated for its accessibility and inclusiveness, making all visitors, including those with mobility needs and pet owners, feel right at home. It’s no surprise regulars return season after season, drawn as much by the welcoming staff and spirited ambiance as by the stunning harbor views.
In essence, Mariners Bar isn’t just a spot to grab a drink or a bite; it’s a charming, heartfelt destination that encapsulates the very best of Ramsgate’s coastal hospitality. Whether you seek a laid-back afternoon retreat, a family-friendly meal, or an evening filled with good company and music, this gem of a pub offers an experience rich in warmth, character, and unforgettable local flavor.
This pub overlooking the harbour has a nice atmosphere. There wasn't much of a crowd on a Tuesday afternoon in early June. There are the usual drinks you'd expect for a pub- ale, gins etc. and non-alcoholic options too (J20, 0% cider etc). A J20 was £3, so the kind of money you'd probably expect to pay. There was a board outside showing when bands would be playing live music in the evening during the week. The toilets are decorated in line with the theme of the pub. There's a pool table at the back. A quiet afternoon playing pool with amazing decor inside the pub with attention to detail, including the tables of lighting with resin, has all kinds of interesting things. Even in the toilets, the design concept is cool. The decorations at Christmas are magical. Also, in a great location by the harbour where the Christmas boat lights were on.
Love this pub. It's always been very friendly when we have gone in there with a fab selection of cold and hot drinks and a nice selection of foods u can order. It's so pretty at Christmas as it has amazing decorations. We've been there during the day and in the evening when they have had fab bands playing. It's in a great location for walking around the harbour (especially lovely at Christmas time when the boats have put up their lights) and then having a drink and something to eat afterwards. Definitely a gem of a pub in Ramsgate harbour and our favourite ones to visit in the area.
Bit quiet when I was there but looked like decent bunch of regulars and it was mid week. Barman was an absolute star though. Charged my phone for me and very friendly to a stranger in town. Can't comment on food other than dry roasted peanuts which were great!
We visited the Mariners Bar on a family break away. We were not expecting much, however we were very pleased to have found a real gem of Ramsgate. The staff, especially Laura, we're incredibly friendly. The pub had a refurbishment during the COVID lockdown and it is absolutely fabulous. The attention to detail and the decor all add to make a great ambience. The pub is wheelchair friendly and dog friendly. The menu on a Tuesday night a smaller pizza and sides menu, but we had a fantastic meal which was very reasonably priced. We visited the next day on a Wednesday and there was a different, much fuller menu choice. However, even the pizza and sides menu had plenty of choice. Chicken wings, salt and pepper squid, garlic mushrooms etc. The pizza was cooked to perfection. It wasn't crowded so it was easy to get a table. Would 100% recommend this pub to anyone.
Very nice pub with interesting bar furniture with tabletops and bar surfaces holding seashells and things of interest set into clear resin. A small outside area offers a street cafe style experience with excellent menu and food. Been before and will visit again.
What a gem . First time to visit Ramsgate and it is a lively, clean and tidy and felt safe there. The Mariners bar was a great place to eat and drink and was typical prices but the atmosphere and decor was spectacular with quirky bits every which was fantastic. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient and the food we had was very good. The place was exceptionally clean and positioned opposite the marina.
